Firefighters are battling a small brush fire in Piru May 3 that placed an evacuation warning on at least one home.
Crews with Ventura County Fire Department responded to the blaze, called the Center Fire, around 6:30 a.m. near Center Street and East Telegraph Road, according to initial fire reports.
By about 7:30 a.m. the fire had reached about 3 acres, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s emergency website vcermergency.com.
“The fire is currently moving to the east, with crews making good progress on containment,” the site says.
A residence on Center Street was placed under an evacuation warning, according to vcemergency.com.
Residents were encouraged to remain alert and monitor official updates. They’re also advisted to be prepared to evacuate if the conditions change.
