Palm Beach County boys lacrosse programs are still alive and well in the midst of regional playoffs.
Four local teams are still in the race to win a state championship, highlighted by three of the state’s best in Class 1A. Tuesday pitted those teams against their respective opposition, all in regional semifinal matches.
Winners advanced to the regional finals, which will be held on Friday, May 1, hosted by higher seeds, with a chance to play in the state semifinals at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples, Florida.
Here is how each Palm Beach County boys lacrosse team performed in their regional semifinal matchup.
Class 1A
St. Andrew’s 16, Cardinal Newman 3
St. Andrew’s got scoring efforts from 11 players, including two goals and three assists from Nick Testa and a three-goal performance from Cooper Crone. Jackson Corlew tallied nine ground balls and dominated in faceoffs.
Theodore Loucas also made eight saves on 10 shots on goal in the Scots victory.
St. Andrew’s will host Pine Crest on May 1 at 7 p.m.
Benjamin 19, St. Edward’s 7
Benjamin will host Jesuit on May 1 at 7 p.m.
Class 2A
Jupiter 19, Martin County 5
David Druhot scored three goals and tallied four assists, while Ryan Lambert added two goals and four assists. Luke Druhot paced the Warriors with 10 ground balls in addition to winning 12 of 19 faceoff attempts.
Jupiter will host St. Thomas Aquinas on May 1 at 7 p.m.
