Packers trading WR Dontayvion Wicks to Eagles, getting 2 draft picks in return

The Green Bay Packers are trading wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a pair of draft picks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The mid-April trade sends Wicks, who was entering the final year of his rookie deal, to Philadelphia, where he will get a one-year, $12.5 million extension. In return, the Eagles are sending a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to Green Bay.

The fifth-round pick coming to the Packers this year is at No. 153 overall.

Wicks, a fifth-round pick in 2023, looked like the odd man out at receiver, both in the short and long term. The Packers used a first-round pick last April on Matthew Golden, who now looks a likely full-time player at perimeter receiver — replacing Romeo Doubs — in 2026. And Wicks was unlikely to get a second contract in Green Bay, especially with Chrisitan Watson needing an extension and Jayden Reed always looking the more likely extension candidate between Reed and Wicks.

Over 46 career games, Wicks caught 108 passes for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns.

While the Packers are losing a veteran receiver, they are gaining draft capital in 2026 and 2027. General manager Brian Gutekunst will now have eight total picks, including two in the fifth round, to use later this month. He’ll also add another pick in 2027. The Packers are already expecting to add three compensatory picks next year.

With Wicks departing, the Packers are also freeing up an opportunity to use a 2026 draft pick at receiver — stabilizing the position with another cheap, four-year rookie contract. The 2026 draft class figures to have several possible targets across Day 2 and Day 3.
