CANTON – LifeWise Academy in Canton will offer classes this spring to Canton City students in second grade at Harter Elementary. Students will travel from Harter Elementary to Canton Baptist Temple, where they will receive Bible-based character education.
Students will learn the Bible chronologically, with each lesson relating a Bible passage to a relevant character trait that students are encouraged to practice in their families and communities. LifeWise lessons will be part of the school’s lunch and recess time. Students can be enrolled at lifewise.org/cantoncityoh.
LifeWise Academy, based in Hilliard, is a released-time religious instruction program providing Bible-based character education to public school students. Stark State College open houses set in April
JACKSON TWP. – Stark State College will have open houses from 5 to 7 p.m. April 8 at Stark State College Akron, 360 Perkins St.; and the same timeframe April 16 on the main campus at 6200 Frank Ave. NW. Guests can learn about the admissions process, talk with faculty and staff about the college’s 200-plus associate degrees and certificates, learn about student services and resources and take a tour.
Financial aid staff also will be on hand to help students and parents look at financial aid and discuss scholarship opportunities. Attendees can come early for open FAFSA labs from 3 to 5 p.m. to get one-on-one help from the college’s financial aid team and complete the FAFSA.

Walsh University names new chief information officer
NORTH CANTON – Walsh University has appointed Jennifer Loudiana as chief information officer. Loudiana has more than 20 years of experience in information technology leadership and strategy. She will oversee the university’s information technology systems and guide the development of student-centered digital applications.
As interim chief information officer since May 2025, she has led the Walsh IT team through significant modernization projects, cybersecurity advancements, and operational streamlining.
Loudiana also is an adjunct instructor for technology-based courses in the DeVille School of Business. Before coming to Walsh, she held technology leadership roles at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Utah.
Tuslaw High School hosts safe driving awareness program
TUSCARAWAS TWP. − The International Save A Life Tour will visit Tuslaw High School on April 8. The safe driving program includes hands-on virtual reality impaired and distracted driving simulators.
The school has already assigned student groups for the day. The tour is sponsored by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office/Safe Communities. The Save A Life Tour is a comprehensive safe driving awareness program that educates drivers on the potentially deadly consequences resulting from poor choices and decisions, according to a news release. The program places emphasis on distracted driving, impaired driving, driver experience, improper driver behavior and seat belt usage.
