Valley Brew is temporarily closed after a portion of the brewery caught fire on Saturday.
The Stockton Miracle Mile brewery at 157 W. Adams St. announced on Tuesday, March 31, that there had been a fire at the brewery in the early hours of Saturday, March 28.

“To our incredible patrons and neighbors of Valley Brew, we wanted to share that a fire occurred in our brewery this past Saturday early in the morning. We are so grateful for our Stockton firefighters who quickly responded to put out the fire,” Valley Brew said in a social media post. “While the damage is still significant, our almost 30 year history in the Stockton community has taught us everything about faith and resilience.”
Online, Valley Brew is listed as “temporarily closed.”
“Over the next few weeks we will be rebuilding and regrouping so we can serve the Stockton community for many more years to come,” Valley Brew officials stated.
Valley Brew in Stockton
According to the Valley Brew website, in the 1950s, El Dorado Brewing Company, which at the time was located in downtown Stockton, originally brewed Valley Brew beer.
“As a popular beer for the locals and the only brewing company in the Valley, its success lasted many years. During the prohibition period, it closed its doors which left the area without a local brewery,” the Valley Brew website states. “In 1994, a local entrepreneur, Creighton Younnel, brought the Valley Brew brewing back to Stockton and established Valley Brew beer back on the current site, 157 Adams Street on the Miracle Mile.”
Valley Brew was purchased by the Craig Family in 1997 and was remodeled and added a large banquet area with an extended outdoor patio.
“Multiple large-screen TVs were installed along with autographed sports memorabilia from hockey, baseball, football and local sports greats!” the Valley Brew website states. “In 2012, Valley Brew partnered with the University of the Pacific Brubeck Jazz Department and established a Jazz Club, Take 5 Jazz at the Brew. The Club has shown great success with Jazz performances by world renowned artists.”
Valley Brew has been co-owned and operated by Kellie Craig-Davis and executive chef and co-owner Eric Davis. Kellie has owned the business since 1997, when she originally bought it from her father Pat Craig, the 35-year owner of Craig & Hamilton Meat Company.
The Valley Brew website lists nine brews that have been brewed at Valley Brew since fall 2015.
These brews include: Indian Red Ale, London Tavern Style Ale, Black Cat Stout, Berry Ale, Apricot Fine Ale, West Coast Style IPA India Pale Ale, UberHoppy Imperial India Pale Ale, Pale Wheat and Luna Blanca Central Valley Golden Ale.
