SPRINGFIELD — A Pawnee man originally charged with attempted first-degree murder after he reportedly ran over and injured a woman following a domestic dispute in 2023 took a negotiated plea earlier this year.
Robert R. Terry, 64, pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic battery and possession of methamphetamine in Sangamon County court Feb. 27.
The meth possession conviction carries a 13-year sentence with a four-year mandatory supervised release (MSR) term while the aggravated battery conviction is eight years with a one-year MSR term.
Presiding Seventh Judicial Circuit Judge Ryan Cadagin handed down the sentences.
Terry will serve the sentences concurrently with another meth possession charge. He will get credit for 805 days of time served.
Terry was accused of running over a 29-year-old woman in his car in the 800 block of Lincoln Street in Pawnee following a domestic dispute Nov. 1, 2023.
Surveillance footage showed Terry’s vehicle hitting the woman, running her over and causing significant injuries, including a lacerated kidney.Â
Terry has a second-degree murder conviction from 2004.
Terry was represented in his current case by Monroe McWard.
