The Camarillo High boys and the Westlake High girls won the team titles at the 17th annual Ventura County Swimming Championships on Thursday, March 26, at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
Camarillo finished first out of 16 teams with 312 points in the boys standings. Royal was second with 298, followed by Buena (246.50), Oak Park (235.50), and Westlake (235) to round out the top five. Finishing sixth through 10th were: Ventura (158), Villanova Prep (132), Newbury Park (114), Foothill Tech (90), and Thousand Oaks (78).
Westlake took first out of 20 teams in the girls standings with 363 points.
Thousand Oaks was second with 284, followed by Newbury Park (262), Buena (172), and Oak Park (164) to round out the top five. Finishing sixth through 10th were: Camarillo (163), Ventura (133), Foothill Tech (127), Villanova Prep (98), and Pacifica (83).
Senior Noah Takano won the 200 IM title in 1 minute, 56.92 seconds for Camarillo’s only individual crown as the Scorpions used a team effort to capture the boys championship.
Westlake won two relay titles and two individual titles en route to the girls championship. Sophomore Unna Yuvavanich won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.68 and sophomore Kylie Melekhov won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.97. Yuvavanich, Melekhov, junior Zoe Fairley and sophomore Janie Wilkes won the 200 IM relay in 1:52.84. Fairley, Melekhov, freshman Jessica Carey and Yuvavanich won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:49.89.
Three swimmers had meet-record performances.
Pacifica senior Abigail Tamayo set the meet record in the girls 50 freestyle with a winning time of 23.67. Tamayo, who won a CIF-SS title in the 50 free in 2023, won the 100 freestyle in 52.23. Both times broke school records.
Nordhoff senior Melina Seider won the girls 500 freestyle with a meet-record time of 4:59.68. Seider also won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.11.
Oak Park junior Pablo Ingrum broke his own meet record in the boys 500 freestyle with a winning time of 4:37.86. Ingrum also captured the 200 freestyle title in 1:42.26.
Newbury Park senior Megan Wang was a double winner, taking first in the girls 100 backstroke in 54.92 and the 200 IM in 2:06.21. The Star’s reigning Girls Swimmer of the Year, who captured a CIF-SS title in 100 back in 2025, won both events for the third straight season. She also set the school record in the 100 freestyle (51.48) as the lead of the Panthers’ 400 freestyle relay.
Oak Park senior Elliott Drottar took home two titles, winning the boys 50 freestyle in 21.25 and 100 freestyle in 46.58.
Royal sophomore Erik Lindskog won the 100 butterfly in 52.40 and teamed with senior Colton Castellano, junior Matthieu Fresco and sophomore Levi Palmer to finish first in the 200 IM relay for the Highlanders.
Buena secured three relay titles. Senior Addison Bruno, senior Madelyn Pierce, senior Susan Hooper and junior Maren Bursek captured the girls 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.29. Senior Wyatt Munger, sophomore Nash Porter, senior River Davis and senior Jack Pointner won the boys 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.29. Munger, junior Tony Bruno, Davis and Pointner won the boys 400 freestyle relay in 3:15.03.
Nordhoff junior Flynn Van Auker won the boys 100 backstroke in 52.90 and Westlake junior Rick Liu won the boys 100 breaststroke in 58.63.
