Germantown teacher on leave over allegations of 'inappropriate' conduct

A teacher at Kennedy Middle School in Germantown is on administrative leave due to allegations of inappropriate and unprofessional conduct.

In a March 11 letter to parents and staff, Germantown School District Superintendent Chris Reuter said the district is not aware of any physical safety concerns for any students. He also said the district is proactively partnering with local law enforcement on an ongoing investigation involving the staff member, who was not named in Reuter’s letter. Reuter also did not specify any details about the allegations.

The district cannot share further details because it is a personnel matter, Reuter said.

In a March 12 email to a reporter, Germantown Police Chief Pat Merten said it is too early in the investigation to say whether any criminal offenses occurred. He said the department is working with the Germantown School District to identify witnesses to any of the allegedly inappropriate incidents. Once all the witnesses and teacher have been interviewed, the department will decide whether it will seek any criminal charges, and the School District will decide whether there have been any policy violations, he said.
