A 32-year-old Orange County woman died after being struck by a car, which then fled the scene without stopping to help, in Hesperia on Thursday night, authorities said.
Brynn Zoellner of Irvine died in the collision, which was first reported just after 8:50 p.m. March 5 at Hesperia Road and Mesa Street, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and coroner’s officials.
Deputies first responded to a report of a woman who was found lying in the roadway with injuries.
They determined Zoellner has been “struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene,” sheriff’s department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said.
She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
No further details, including a description of the hit-and-run vehicle, were available as the investigation continued.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the Hesperia Police Department at (760) 947-1500. Information may also be provided anonymously to the WeTip hotline at (844) 909-3096.
