Will a $2 Powerball ticket make you a multi-millionaire ahead of Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day? As they say in the lottery business, “it could happen to you.”
In some cases, it did (see below).

The current Powerball jackpot jumped to $126 million for Wednesday, Feb. 11, after no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Monday, Feb. 9, drawing. The one-time cash option for Wednesday’s prize would be $57.8 million. Wednesday, Feb. 11, winning Powerball numbers were 6-20-33-40-48 and the Powerball was 5. Power Play was 2x. Those numbers rolled over and mean a higher possible prize for the Valentine’s Day drawing.
The Valentine’s Day 2026 Powerball jackpot will be at $146 million, with a cash option of $66.9 million.
There was one big winner in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. A ticket purchased in Arizona matched 5 for a $1 million prize.
In case you’re wondering, Monday’s winning numbers were 6-19-22-28-48 and the Powerball was 24. Power Play was 5x. Those numbers produced another rollover. Though that draw resulted in a rollover, it wasn’t all bad news: There was one big winner in Monday’s Powerball drawing. A ticket purchased in North Carolina matched 5 for a $1 million prize.
Tickets start at $2 a piece. Below is what to know about lottery odds, how long you have to claim the cash option if you bought a ticket in Florida and what happens to unclaimed prize money, according to the Florida Lottery. Good luck!
Anyone win Florida Lottery? Powerball numbers for Wednesday, February 11, 2026? 6-20-33-40-48 and the Powerball was 5
Powerball lottery drawings are at 11 p.m. ET every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, including holidays. Wednesday, Feb. 11, winning Powerball numbers were 6-20-33-40-48 and the Powerball was 5. Power Play was 2x. We’ll see if there’s a winner or another rollover ahead of the Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day holidays.
How long has Powerball rolled over?
The grand prize last reset to $20 million after one ticket from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, matched in the Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, Powerball drawing for $209 million.
The current Powerball streak started Saturday, Jan. 24, one month after someone won $1.817 billion in the Dec. 24, 2025, Christmas Eve Powerball drawing. That winning ticket, purchased from a Murphy USA gas station at a Walmart Supercenter in Cabot, Arkansas, was claimed Jan. 22, 2026. The winner elected to stay anonymous.
Below is a recap of drawings and rollovers in the current streak and how much the jackpot has increased over time.
When is the next Powerball drawing? What are the chances of winning Powerball lottery?
Powerball drawings are held at 11 p.m. ET Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, including holidays. According to Powerball.com, players have a 1 in 292.2 million chance to match all six numbers whether the jackpot is $20 million or $2 billion. Prizes range from $2 to the grand prize jackpot, which varies.
The next Powerball drawing will be Saturday, Feb. 14, the day after Friday the 13th and, coincidentally, the most romantic holiday of the year: Valentine’s Day.
Has anyone won a big lottery jackpot on Friday the 13th?
Yes! A single ticket was purchased in Maine for the Jan. 13, 2023, Mega Millions drawing. The winner remains anonymous through a trust and accepted their winnings of $1.35 billion through the limited liability company LaKoma Island Investments LLC, according to a Feb. 22, 2023, story in USA TODAY.
Jan. 13, 2023, was Friday the 13th. The number 13 typically is referred to as an unlucky number, and it’s associated with horror films.
Fun fact: Three tickets purchased in California, Florida and Tennessee won the Jan. 13, 2016, Powerball drawing, splitting $1.586 billion. In 2016, FLORIDA TODAY reported Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt bought their winning Powerball ticket at a Publix in Melbourne Beach.
While Jan. 13, 2023, was a Friday the 13th, Jan. 13, 2016, was not (it was a Wednesday). The odds of a billion-dollar jackpot being won on the same date going forward? Likely pretty low.
According to the Mega Millions site, seven Mega Millions jackpots have been won on a Friday the 13th. (For a little irony, the number 7 is, of course, considered a lucky number.)
“Michigan has been especially lucky on that special day, with four winning jackpots (June 2008, May 2011, June 2014, and one shared with Rhode Island in October 2017),” a post on megamillions.com states. “The game’s third-largest prize to date ($1.348 billion) was won in Maine on Friday, January 13, 2023. Friday the 13th jackpots were also won in New York in March 2009 and in Ohio in November 2015.”
Because Powerball drawings are not on a Friday, there will never be a Friday the 13th Powerball winner.
Biggest lottery winner ever Edwin Castro, known for $2.04 billion Powerball, claimed the cash on Valentine’s Day
Saturday, Feb. 14, Powerball drawing is on Valentine’s Day. Here’s a look back at the significance of that holiday for one very lucky winner.
Edwin Castro of Altadena, California, sole winner of the $2.04 billion Powerball drawing on Nov. 7, 2022, opted for the lump sum, which was just shy of $1 billion, according to the California Lottery. Castro bought the ticket that matched all five numbers plus the Powerball from Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, California.
Declining to appear on camera, Castro claimed his prize on Feb. 14, 2023 − Valentine’s Day − and received a check from the California Lottery for $997.6 million. In California, it is public record to know who won a Powerball, Mega Millions or California Lottery jackpot and where the winning ticket was sold. Rules vary in other states, such as Florida, where it is public record to know who won a lottery jackpot, though winners in that state can claim their grand prize through a trust or LLC.
In October 2025, the Wall Street Journal reported Castro walked away with $768 million.

Does Walmart sell lottery tickets? Where to buy lottery tickets in Florida
In Florida, most gas stations and some grocery stores sell lottery tickets. It’s harder to find a gas station that doesn’t sell Powerball, Mega Millions, Florida Lottery and scratch-off tickets than it is to find one that does.
Publix also sells lottery tickets and is known for selling many winning tickets. A lesser-known location is Walmart. Whether the Walmart location closest to you sells lottery tickets depends on your state and the store. Many Walmart locations in Florida have self-service lottery ticket vending machines or sell lottery tickets at the customer service desk.
You can use the “Where to Play” search tool on the Florida Lottery website to find a grocery store or gas station near you that sells lottery tickets.
