A Victorville man was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street in a wheelchair on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The collision took place just after 6 p.m. Jan. 22 at Mojave and Village drives, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

“Deputies were called to the location for a report of a vehicle that had collided with a man in a wheelchair,” according to agency spokeswoman Gloria Orejel. “The man was crossing the roadway when he was hit. Unfortunately, he did not survive.”
The driver of the involved sedan remained at the scene, she said. Impaired driving was not suspected.
Officials described the victim as a 66-year-old Victorville man. His identity was not yet released by coroner’s officials.
The investigation was ongoing.
