The Milwaukee man who died in a crash on U.S. 41 earlier this month was identified Dec. 22 by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office.
Stephen Cummins, 34, and well as his passenger, Lauren Jiardini, 31, of Milwaukee, were both ejected from the vehicle when Cummins lost control of the vehicle while passing another vehicle at a high rate of speed around 8:40 p.m. near Moody Road in the Town of Pensaukee.
The sport utility vehicle entered the median briefly prompting Cummins to overcorrect the vehicle back onto the roadway, when it rolled multiple times before entering the ditch on the northwest side of the highway and ending up near trees, according to the sheriff’s office crash report.
Neither Cummins nor Jiardini were wearing seat belts and were ejected from the SUV. Cummins ended up underneath the vehicle and died at the scene. Jiardini was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay with substantial injuries.
