No one was injured in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 69 in Story County, but the sheriff’s office is using dash cam footage to help spread awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence.
The footage shows a car driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic on Nov. 8, 2025. A deputy with the Story County Sheriff’s Office was following behind the car with its emergency lights and sirens on, but the driver failed to stop.
The black sedan crashed head-on into another vehicle, which resulted in a three-car collision. All three vehicles sustained heavy damage, according to the Story County Sheriff’s Office.
No major injuries were reported. The driver of the sedan, who was driving on the wrong side of the road, was arrested and charged with an OWI First Offense. They were also charged with driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway and failure to yield to emergency vehicles.
“The Story County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone never to drive while impaired,” the Facebook post stated. “This was a completely preventable incident, and making responsible choices helps keep our roadways safe for all.”
