What is ‘Fruition’? Visalia Branch Library unveils striking new sculpture

The unveiling ceremony for “Fruition,” a sculpture by artist Richie Vipham, was held at the Visalia Branch of the Tulare County Library on Friday, Nov. 7.

The permanent installation, which was commissioned by the Sound N Vision Foundation and the Tulare County Library, measures 21 feet by 7.5 feet.

The piece is comprised of hundreds of yards of steel, constructed by Vipham’s countless hours of bending, cutting and welding. The immense three-dimensional piece is based on the paintings of his lifelong friend, Aaron Gomes.

The ceremony included live music, and was scheduled to coincide with the November First Friday Art Hop hosted by the Visalia Arts Consortium.
