Cover your plants, get your pets inside, wrap your pipes, and get your jackets out. Much of the state is going to be cold tonight from wintry blasts sweeping down from Canada, bringing unseasonably Christmas-like weather.
As of Monday morning, Nov. 10, temperatures in North Florida have already dropped into the 40s and temps in North, Central and parts of Southwest Florida are expected to drop sharply this afternoon.

A freeze warning is in effect for North Florida and inland north Central Florida for late Monday night and early Tuesday morning, with low temperatures falling to the upper 20s and lower 30s and wind chills dipping below 20 degrees, according to National Weather Service forecasts. A freeze watch will be in effect tonight for the Panhandle from 6 p.m. CT until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
In Central Florida, lows tonight are expected to drop into the 30s with wind chills as low as 24 degrees, with the coldest temperatures northwest of Interstate 4.
Cold fronts moving on either side of the state are bringing rough to very rough seas and the potential for gale-force winds. The entire state is under a small craft advisory, with a high surf advisory and dangerous rip current statements for both coasts.
The Florida Panhandle and Big Bend area is also under a Red Flag Warning for high fire danger today due to dangerous burning conditions including low daytime humidity, gusty winds and dry fuels. Fires are not expected, but the ongoing drought conditions mean that any fires that do start will spread rapidly.
Temperatures are expected to begin rising again by the end of the week.

What is a freeze warning? What is a freeze watch?
A Freeze Warning is issued when temperatures are forecasted to go below 32 degrees for a long period of time.
This temperature threshold kills some types of commercial crops and residential plants, while temperatures below 28 degrees for an extended period of time can kill most plants.
A Freeze Watch is issued when there is a potential for significant, widespread freezing temperatures within the next 24-36 hours. A Freeze Watch is issued in the autumn until the end of the growing season and in the spring at the start of the growing season.
How cold will it get in Pensacola, Florida? Expect records to be broken
The first freeze of the season is expected for all of the forecast area Monday night into Tuesday morning as lows fall into the middle 20s to lower 30s, according to National Weather Service Mobile. Wind Chills will be in the low to mid 20s areawide. A Freeze Watch is in effect for the entire local area
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for our local marine zones through Monday night with the potential for occasional gusts to gale force over the open Gulf waters.
Dangerous fire weather conditions are expected on Monday across the entire area with the ongoing drought, very dry weather, and forecast strong winds. A Red Flag Warning is in effect Monday afternoon for southeast Mississippi and western Florida Panhandle counties.
Tallahassee, Florida, expected to see first freeze, hazardous wind chills
The first freeze of the season is expected for all but beachfront communities Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Lows will fall into the 20s at most locations away from the coast to low 30s near the coast. A freeze warning is in effect for the entire local area with a hard freeze possible in the wiregrass. Wind chills will plummet into the upper teens to lower 20s overnight tonight.
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through early Tuesday morning across all northeast Gulf waters. Occasional gusts to near gale force are possible in waters west of Apalachicola.
Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected today with gusty winds, low relative humidity, and ongoing drought conditions. A red flag warning is in effect for the eastern Florida panhandle and entire Florida Big Bend this afternoon. Any outdoor burning is highly discouraged.
Light freeze possible in Jacksonville, Northeast Florida
A freeze warning is in effect tonight and early Tuesday morning for locations west of the St. JohnsRiver, according to National Weather Service Jacksonville. Widespread frost and a light freeze is expected Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
Wind Chill values are expected to fall to 20-25 degrees early on Tuesday Morning. Cold weather advisories are in effect, with a gale warning late this afternoon and tonight.

Cold front forecast to send temps below normal in Daytona Beach, Florida

Temperatures will be a bit warmer along the immediate coast. Gusty north to northwest winds will make it feel even colder with wind chills in the lower to mid 20s north, mid 20s to around 30 central and the lower to mid 30s south.
Marine hazards are expected behind the strong cold front for Monday and Tuesday.
Lows could drop into 50s for several days in Sarasota, Florida
Record breaking cold temperatures expected tonight and Tuesday morning and possibly some record low maximums on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay.
Temperatures will struggle today and in many instances will hold steady or fall slowly. Highs around 60 north, mid 60s, central and upper 60s to lower 70s south.
Temperatures will drop Monday night, early Tuesday morning to around 30 to the lower 30s across the nature coast, mid to upper 30s central and around 40 to the lower 40s south. Temperatures will be a bit warmer along the immediate coast. Gusty north to northwest winds will make it feel even colder with wind chills in the lower to mid 20s north, mid 20s to around 30 central and the lower to mid 30s south.

Cold front could send temps into 40s in Orlando, Florida
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect late tonight into early Tuesday morning across most of east central Florida due to below normal temperatures and wind chill values falling below 30 degrees, according to the National Weather Service Melbourne.
A Cold Weather Advisory goes into effect late tonight into Tuesday morning for Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Okeechobee, and interior portions of the Treasure Coast west of I-95.
Will it snow this week in Florida?
As of Nov. 10, only one location is expected to see temperatures near freezing: Tallahassee on Nov. 11.
To get snow, you need moisture. While isolated showers in the Tallahassee area may linger into Saturday they’re only expected to bring about ¼ inch of rain or less and drought conditions are expected to continue or worsen over the next week.
Has it ever snowed in Florida?
Yes, as recently as this year, in January.
Referred to as the 2025 Gulf Coast blizzard, the storm brought a record 8.9 inches of snow to Pensacola between Jan. 20-22, smashing the prior record of 3 inches set in February 1895.
Tallahassee recorded 1.9 inches, the second-highest amount on record, according to the National Weather Service.
A 200-mile section of Interstate 10 in the Panhandle was closed the day after snow fell.
Pensacola also saw a record low temperatures of 13 degrees on Jan. 22.
