According to Edgewater police, Abreu came to meet the Edgewater man after communicating with him about buying a $4,500 gold chain advertised on Facebook Marketplace.

Abreu, who introduced himself as Michael Ramos on Facebook Marketplace, initially wanted the victim to come to Orlando but the gold chain seller declined. So, he told the seller he was taking an Uber fare, a white Nissan Maxima, to come to Edgewater. The seller agreed to meet him at Chapel Lane Automotive on Hibiscus Drive where he worked, police said.

The seller said Abreu appeared sketchy and didn’t want to leave the parking lot. Abreu was dressed all in black and had a satchel around his neck and hip, the victim told police, according to the report.

Police would later discover that the driver of the white Nissan Maxima was Abreu’s brother, Jaylan Sosa. It was not immediately known April 17 if Sosa was charged with any crime.

The seller of the gold chain allowed Abreu to inspect the gold chain and was considering giving the buyer a discount for having driven from Orlando, police said.

But before that could happen, Abreu switched the jewelry piece to his left hand and pulled out a handgun from his waistband with his right hand and ran while pointing the firearm at the victim, police said.

Abreu fired three shots at the building hitting a customer’s vehicle, while the building was occupied by two children and an adult, according to an arrest report.

The owner of the automotive shop had to jump out of the way and throw himself to the ground, police said.

License plate readers helped Edgewater police and sheriff’s deputies track down Abreu to a home on Old Ash Loop in Orlando, according to the report filed with the court.
