Carroll junior Elaina Lucido shined at the Region IV-5A cross country meet and has been voted the Driscoll Children’s Hospital Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 20-25.
Lucido recorded the best finish by a Carroll girls runner at regionals in program history, finishing third with a time of 18:42.20 to advance to the UIL State meet in Round Rock.
Lucido received 2,678 of the 6,285 votes cast, which was 42.6% of total votes.
Three Rivers football player Paxton Soliz was second with 1,744 votes.
Students can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Saturday and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com or on X @CallerSports.
