Week 10 of the high school football season is officially here.
Week 9 brought less drama, simply because we had less teams playing. Top teams like Buchholz and Columbia were on bye. Bradford and Eastside faced lack-luster opponents.
Still, some teams in the area earned critical wins. Newberry shored up its playoff chances with an easy win over Fort White, hurting the Indians’ playoff chances in the process. Lafayette steamrolled Trenton behind a running clock, and Hawthorne and Williston each won big Thursday road games in the Rural class.
More drama is expected this week. Buchholz is back and in search of another district title. Same goes for Bradford. District play is over for Newberry, but it’s must-win for the Panthers vs. Williston as they sit just outside the playoff picture.
District titles have been clinched for Eastside and out of the picture for Columbia, but the Rams and Tigers need to avoid home game traps.
All in all, it’s a great Week 10. Here’s the full schedule:
