Four days of great weather and an attendance uptick helped the 2025 Arts, Beats & Eats festival generate the biggest charitable donation in its 28-year history.
Festival organizers announced Tuesday, Oct. 14, they are contributing $400,077 to southeastern Michigan organizations with money raised during this year’s Labor Day weekend event.
The funds will be distributed to nearly 80 groups across the region, including more than $150,000 earmarked for organizations in AB&E’s Royal Oak home base. Most of them contributed manpower to the event with concession staffing and other volunteer roles.
Money was generated through a cut of ticket fees and beverage sales along with the festival’s community initiatives. About 345,000 people attended AB&E in September, up 15% from 2024, organizers said.
The successful weekend followed a precarious financial situation prompted by the withdrawal of title sponsor Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in the spring. Michigan Lottery, a longtime AB&E stage sponsor, stepped in to assume naming rights in July.
“It was an extremely challenging year from March on,” said festival director Jon Witz. “Now I would call this the most rewarding moment I’ve had producing this event.”
Since its 1998 founding, AB&E has donated more than $8.2 million to area organizations, including $1.8 million to groups in Royal Oak, where the festival relocated in 2010 from Pontiac.
Details were revealed during a news conference at Flagstar Bank’s operational headquarters in Troy, where beneficiaries were scheduled to be presented with checks.
