The Florida State Seminoles were defeated by the Pittsburgh Panthers in a game that might’ve very well been this team’s last chance to make it to the College Football Playoff. A third straight loss spells doom for their ACC Championship hopes as well. It was another close loss, 34-31, but it did not justify keeping Florida State in the AP Top 25.
The Seminoles are now 3-3. From unranked to No. 14, No. 10, No. 7, No. 8, No. 18, No. 25, and now unranked again. Their three straight wins that ascended them to No. 7 perfectly mirror the three losses that sent them back out of the top 25. It’s like when they got good, it suddenly went to their head.
Additionally, Miami is now at No. 2. Virginia remains in the top 25 at No. 18, and Georgia Tech remains at No. 12 as well at No. 12. Only three ACC teams are inside the top 25.
Florida State will look to get back on track when it travels to Palo Alto, California, to take on the Stanford Cardinal for the first time in school history on Saturday. The game is set to start at 10:30 p.m. ET and will be on ESPN.
