Free fishing day and state park admission in Indiana this weekend. What to know

Nature lovers who want to save money in Indiana, this is the weekend for you. The Hoosier state has free fishing and park entrance opportunities.

Sept. 27 is the last Free Fishing Day of 2025. Indiana residents can fish public waters with or without a license.

Indianapolis-area fishing outing resources can be found at the new Fishing Trip Planner.  

The date is also National Public Lands Day, the National Environmental Education Foundation’s nationwide event promoting the usage and volunteerism on public lands.

Free state park admission Sunday

On Sept. 28, all Indiana state parks, forests and recreation areas will offer free admission, where admission is normally charged.Visit on.IN.gov/recfinder for more information.
