All four of the Greater Lafayette area’s defending girls tennis sectional champions extended title streaks this week.
Harrison avenged a regular season loss to Benton Central by defeating the Bison 3-2 in the championship match, claiming a fourth consecutive sectional title. The Raiders host the regional on Tuesday and Wednesday, facing Tippecanoe School Corp. rival McCutcheon in the semifinal.
The Mavericks won the sectional at Frankfort, repeating as champs by knocking off Seeger in the final.
Fountain Central and Crawfordsville both advanced to the Carmel Regional. Crawfordsville’s sixth straight sectional title came by beating Western Boone in the title match and the Mustangs won a third straight title and fourth in five years with a championship match victory over South Vermillion.
Crawfordsville plays No. 3 Carmel in Tuesday’s regional semifinal and Fountain Central faces No. 4 Park Tudor.
