Bears HC Ben Johnson booed in his return to Detroit

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson made his return to Ford Field against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, and he didn’t receive a friendly welcome from fans.

In a video shared by Kaitlin Sharkey, Johnson and the Bears were greeted with a chorus of boos as he made his way out onto the field at Ford Field before Sunday’s game.

Johnson spent five years with Detroit, where he got his start as an offensive quality control coach (2019) before being promoted to tight ends coach (2020), passing game coordinator (2021) and finally offensive coordinator (2022), where he spent three years leading a top NFL offense.

The Bears and Lions are each facing off against an NFC North division rival for the second consecutive week. Both Chicago and Detroit lost their season openers and are desperate for a win to avoid dropping to 0-2 and two losses in the division.
