Rankings have been unkind to the Iowa Hawkeyes through two weeks in 2025. Sure, the Hawkeyes have done this to themselves with back-to-back lackluster performances on offense, but the rankings are undoubtedly penalizing them.
After a steep drop in the USA TODAY Sports 1-136 Re-Rank, the Hawkeyes take another slide in the newest CBS Sports 136 rankings as they continue to see their stock plummet.
In this week’s rankings heading into Week 3 games, the Iowa Hawkeyes slid eight spots down to the No. 45 team in the country. One saving grace for the Hawkeyes is where their opponent, the UMass Minutemen, finds themselves ranked.
UMass, ravaged by injuries and coming off a loss to Bryant, an FCS program, is ranked No. 134 out of 136 teams, ahead of just Middle Tennessee and Kent State.
This game is an opportunity Iowa must capitalize on as it tries to figure out its offensive scheme and work through the struggles. The Hawkeyes are rather large favorites against UMass and need to show an effort that proves as such.
Kickoff for this contest is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, September 13, from Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, and will air on the Big Ten Network.
