El Paso police arrest men for allegedly beating up security guard, resisting officers

El Paso police arrested two men for allegedly assaulting a public servant and resisting arrest after fighting with a bar security guard, authorities said.

Police arrested Nima Dhendup, 25, on suspicion of assaulting a public servant and Menda Wangchuk Dorgi, 25, on a charge of resisting arrest, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Detective Judy Oviedo said in a news release.

The incident occurred at a bar located in the 2700 block of North Mesa Street in the Cincinnati Entertainment District, the release states.

The incident started about 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, when a security guard was attempting to escort a man out of the bar because he was vomiting inside, the news release states.

Dhendup allegedly hit the security guard, the news release states.

Officers arrived and found 30 to 40 people yelling while the security guard attempted to detain Dhendup.

As officers were assisting the security guard, Dorgi allegedly “continued to intervene and ignored the officers’ commands,” the news release states.

Dhendup was booked into the El Paso County jail on a $10,000 bond on the assault of a security officer charge, jail records show. He remains jailed as of Monday, Sept. 8, jail records show.

Dorgi was booked into the jail on a $5,000 bond on suspicion of resisting arrest, search or transport charge. Jail records do not show if he remains jailed.

No further information was released.
