Is there a rocket launch today? Upcoming SpaceX missions from Vandenberg Space Force Base

SpaceX opened September with a regular cadence of Starlink satellite missions launching from Southern California, with two scheduled within the first week of the month.

A Falcon 9 rocket is due to get off the ground twice through Saturday, Sept. 6 from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County carrying batches of the internet satellites for Elon Musk’s commercial spaceflight company.

Multiple websites dedicated to tracking rocket launches also suggest SpaceX is the launch provider for a classified government mission in September.

Still, for Californians – and Arizonans – making their rocket launch viewing plans, keep in mind that it’s common for rocket launches to be delayed due to any number of factors, including poor weather conditions or unexpected issues with spacecraft. Be sure to visit VC Star for the latest mission updates.

In the meantime, here’s your weekly look at the upcoming launch schedule for the beginning of September at the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Tuesday, Sept. 2: Starlink 17-8

Saturday, Sept. 6: Starlink 17-9

Wednesday, Sept. 10: SDA Tranche 1 Transport Layer B
