Incredibly Delicious celebrates 30 years in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD–This weekend, get outside and enjoy the cool breeze and the last lick of summer with September just around the corner.

Whether you’re hankering for a musical to obsess over the next week or a rodeo blaring ’90s country, there’s something for everyone this week in the capital city area.

Dreamgirls at The Hoogland

What: The smash-hit music Dreamgirls is at the Hoogland for four weekends only and now is the best time to snatch a ticket to the turbulent journey performers face in America’s music industry.

Directed by professional and Springfield native Nattalyee Randall, follow big names in the music industry through not just their career highs, but also their lows and the struggle to achieve greatness. With roots in the rise of The Supremes, the dynamic of ambition, friendship and love pull this music together.

When: Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.

Where: The Hoogland, 420 S. Sixth St., Springfield

More: Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at hcfta.org. 

An Incredibly Delicious Anniversary 

What: Incredibly Delicious is celebrating their 30 year anniversary of serving sweets, soups and fresh baked breads this weekend on Aug. 30. 

From 7:30 in the morning until three in the afternoon, a full-catered menu will rotate throughout the day serving the best the bakery has to offer. Vegetable garden quiche, chocolate raspberry-stuffed french toast and croque madames are just the starters for the real main course.

At 10 a.m., a cake cutting for free cake to celebrate the businesses 30th will be available, with a dessert coffee bar until close.

When: Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: 925 S. Seventh St., Springfield 

More: Incredibly Delicious bakery and cafe has been a staple of Springfield’s sweets selection since the 90’s. A full menu can be found online on the business website.

Flat track motorcycle racing

What: Haven’t had enough of the Illinois State Fairgrounds? Then this event is for you. 

American Flat track, the world’s premier flat track motorcycle racing series, will be celebrating its annual Labor Day Weekend doubleheader at the Springfield fairgrounds to see who can break the fastest time in two miles.

This American Flat Track National Championship is sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. 

Come for the high-octane sport and bring the whole family to cheer on the drivers and enjoy food and beverages across the grounds. 

This is day two of a multi-day event for fast-track motorcycle riders.

When: Sunday, 10 a.m.

Where: 34 Grandstand Ave., Springfield inside the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Neon Rodeo

What: Ok, this one is a bit of a drive, but worth the wait for country fans.

Saddle up and boot scoot boogey your way down to the Twisted Tree Music Hall for a night that’ll throw you back harder than a mechanical bull.

Neon Rodeo, a ’90s country tribute band is coming to Illinois to help beat the heat. 

Dress your best in neon colors or ’90s flair and relive the ’90s country music scene in Jacksonville Illinois for a night of classic country put on by the Twisted Tree.

When: Friday 7 p.m. 

Where: 1061 E. Morton Ave., Jacksonville

More: This is a free event, no tickets are required. 

Dog Days of Summer 

What: Dog Days are back at Buzz Bomb Brewing Co. in Downtown Springfield. 

Enjoy a pint of something good and live music from artist Silas Tockey during happy hour with your pooch. 

This inning of Dog Days, Johnnie O’s doughnuts will be on hand with What the Pup! Groomers, free hot dogs from A Taste of Seoul, and special drawings. 

Dog Days are presented by 3 Cats & a Corgi. 

When: Sunday, 3 to 6 p.m.

Where: Buzz Bomb Brewing Co., 406 E. Adams St., Springfield
