Trek the Trestle is back for its 17th year

By The St. Clair County Parks and Recreation

With the end of summer approaching, the St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission is hosting the annual Labor Day “Trek the Trestle” Walk on the Wadhams to Avoca Trail.

The trestle walk coincides with the big five-mile Labor Day walk that takes place each year on the Mackinac Bridge. As part of the event, participants will cross the 640ft. Mill Creek trestle, the longest bridge of its kind in the state of Michigan. The five-mile walking event will be held on Labor Day, September 1, at 9:00 am. The walk will start at the Avoca Road Trailhead in Downtown Avoca (on M-136). After the walk, Michigan made food products will be available for purchase, with proceeds going to the United Way of St. Clair County. Trek the Trestle t-shirts will also be available for purchase before and after the walk.
