As with Class 5A, 4A and 3A, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has analyzed and made preseason predictions for Class 2A Texas high school football teams across the Lone Star State.
Next up in the 2025 Texas high school football preseason predictions is Class 2A Division I.
In the Big Country and West Texas area, there are two 2A DI districts that feature two of the deepest districts in the greater Abilene area — District 4-2A DI and District 5-2A DI.
Before diving into DCTF’s predictions for these stacked West Texas districts, four Big Country teams earned spots in Dave Campbell’s preseason 2A DI statewide rankings.
Stamford took the top spot among Big Country squads at No. 5, followed closely by District 4-2A DI rivals Hawley (No. 19) and Cisco (No. 21). De Leon snagged the No. 11 spot in Dave Campbell’s 2A DI preseason rankings to pace District 5-2A DI teams followed by Hamilton at No. 13.
De Leon quarterback Heston Jobe and Hamilton linebacker Halston Haile were recognized by DCTF as the Preseason All-District Offensive and Defensive MVPs, respectively, in District 5-2A DI.
Meanwhile, Hawley tight end Camden Ables and Stamford defensive lineman Taegan Pimpton were also named to the DCTF Class 2A preseason all-state team.
