JACKSON TWP. ‒ A motorcyclist died July 26 after a two-vehicle crash.
The crash took place around 1:20 p.m. on Frank Avenue near Mega Street NW.
The motorcyclist killed was 58-year-old Larry A. Jeffries Jr. of the North Canton area.
According to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol, Jeffries was on a 2000 Indian Chief motorcycle going south on Frank Avenue NW in the center lane.
Also traveling south on Frank Avenue was a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by 24-year-old Luca Stambaugh, also of North Canton, the agency said.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Chevrolet Silverado tried to make a left-hand turn from the far right lane onto Mega Street. During this improper turn, the Indian Chief motorcycle struck the driver’s side ofthe Chevrolet truck.
Jeffries was transported to Cleveland Mercy Medical Center in Canton, where he was pronounced deaddue to internal injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol release.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Jackson Township Fire Department, Reed’sTowing, Belden Village Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
