The Green Bay Packers officially announced a contract extension for right tackle Zach Tom on Tuesday. The extension was first reported Monday by several outlets, and Tom reported to training camp and signed the deal on Tuesday.
While the team does not disclose official contract terms, the extension is reported to be worth $88 million over four seasons, keeping Tom under contract with the Packers through the 2029 season. It also includes a signing bonus of $30.2 million, a record for an offensive lineman.
The Packers are rewarding a player who has emerged as one of the NFL’s elite offensive tackles.
Last season, Tom received All-Pro votes from the Associated Press and was an All-Pro selection at Pro Football Focus. He ended the regular season as the fourth-highest graded offensive tackle overall at PFF after allowing only three sacks and earning an elite run-blocking grade over 17 games at right tackle.
According to the team, Tom hasn’t been penalized for holding over his first three NFL season and has 39 games at three different positions for an offense that ranks second in sacks allowed and sack percentage allowed over the last two seasons.
Tom was the 140th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. He was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal before signing his record extension.
