‘Tis the season of tans, funnel cakes and county fairs. Every year, Ohio has 94 independent and county fairs in addition to the Ohio State Fair.
With 94 opportunities for cotton-candy eating and livestock showing, it can be hard to know which fair is right for you, and when it happens.
For those hoping to spend summer evenings in a sea of fairgoers, here are some of the county fairs happening around central Ohio.
Franklin County Fair
From July 14-20, the Franklin County Fair is reconnecting the urban landscape of the county with its agricultural roots. The fair will feature events like the Swifty Swine pig race and automated cow milking for kids. It will be at the fairgrounds in Hilliard at 4951 Northwest Pkwy. Find more information at fcfair.org.
Union County Fair
From July 20-26, the Union County Fair will be taking over the fairgrounds at 845 N. Main St., Marysville. Professional wrestling and barnyard Olympics are just some of the grandstand events that attendees can look forward to. Find more information at ohiounioncountyfair.com.
Hartford Fair
Licking County’s Hartford Fair will be from Aug. 3-9. Nicknamed “the biggest little fair in the world,” the Hartford Fair will have live music, a goat obstacle course and motocross racing. Morrow County Fair
The 175th annual Morrow County Fair will run from Aug. 25 to Sept. 1 at 195 S. Main St., Mt. Gilead. On Aug. 29, the fair is offering free admission to seniors and veterans. Find more information at morrowcountyfair.org.
Delaware County Fair
The fair is set for Sept. 13-20. It will feature the Little Brown Jug horse race, among other fair favorites. The fair is at 236 Pennsylvania Ave., Delaware. Find more information at delawarecountyfair.com.
Fairfield County Fair
From Oct. 5-11, the Fairfield County Fair will be celebrating its 175th year. Nicknamed “the last and best of the year,” the Fairfield County Fair will wrap up the season. The fair is at 157 E. Fair Lane, Lancaster. Find more information at fairfieldcountyfair.org.
