A man riding a bicycle died after he was struck by a vehicle on Leopard Street on July 6, according to Corpus Christi police.
Officers responded to a call of a major crash at 9:26 p.m. involving a motor vehicle and bicyclist that happened in the 4800 block of the road, according to a news release published by the Corpus Christi Police Department.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the cyclist as 53-year-old Ismael Martinez.
Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the cyclist was traveling south across Leopard Street when the motorist, who was traveling east, struck him.
Police say Martinez failed to yield the right of way to the driver and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Speed was not a factor in the crash, they said.
