The college commits celebrated by Odessa-Montour included someone set to compete in a burgeoning sport, another with plans to be a dual-sport athlete, and a third who has mastered the art of hitting and being hit in baseball.
O-M paid tribute to Jackie Mace, Paisley Jeziorski and Gavin Lohmeyer during a signing celebration June 12 at the school’s cafeteria.
Jackie Mace, Utica for wrestling
Mace committed to Division III Utica College for women’s wrestling following a high school career in which she had two third-place Section 4 finishes and a fourth-place showing. She was a three-time runner-up at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships.
Her career record was 48-36 as the first full-time girls wrestler in Odessa-Montour history. She also played soccer and ran cross-country for the Grizzlies.
Mace wasn’t eligible to wrestle as a freshman because she didn’t pass the physical test. She continued to practice and made the team as a sophomore, but perhaps most significantly set the tone for girls wrestling at the school.
“I worked so hard to even just wrestle in high school and I worked even harder to bring more girls,” she said.
“We have three girls on our modified program and I’m excited to be on a girls team and not be the only girl on the team. And also, I love wrestling, it’s my favorite.”
Mace plans to study earth science education at Utica.
Paisley Jeziorski, SUNY Broome for women’s soccer and track
Jeziorski was a five-year member of Odessa-Montour’s girls soccer team, three times earning first-team All-IAC honors. She led O-M in scoring as a junior and senior. She also competed in track and cheer.
In addition to playing soccer, Jeziorski plans to compete in the 800-meter run, relays and perhaps steeplechase for Broome’s track & field team.
“I like staying busy. I’m a busy person and I just like being in shape,” she said of competing in multiple sports in college.
“I can’t get out of sports. They’re my favorite thing. I’ve grown up doing them since I was three. I love it.”
She plans to study dental hygiene at Broome.
Gavin Lohmeyer, Pitt-Bradford for baseball
Lohmeyer’s 2025 baseball stats included a .613 on-base percentage, 1.381 on-base plus slugging percentage, four homers, and a team-high 25 RBIs. But perhaps most eye-popping of his stats were 14 hit by pitches.
He earned All-IAC honors to cap a three-year varsity baseball career that included helping the Schuyler Storm to its first Section 4 title in 2023. Lohmeyer also played football and basketball.
“It’s been very fun. We’ve all grown up together, we work hard together,” he said of competing for O-M and the combined teams with Watkins Glen known as the Schuyler Storm.
He plans to major in mechanical engineering at Division III University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, which is near the New York-Pennsylvania border. Lohmeyer expects to play catcher and third base in college.
“I really like what they stood for as a team, their culture, and they really have a close team, like a family pretty much, and I really like that about them,” Lohmeyer said.
“They work hard every day, they’re always trying to get better, they win games.”
