CANTON ‒ Stark County Common Pleas Court officials are issuing a warning about scammers impersonating court personnel and asking for payments.
One scam claims you’ve missed jury duty and must make a payment to avoid arrest. Another scam tells you a court case or program, such as probation or pretrial, requires immediate payment.
The court said it does not order people to make payments unless there has been a court hearing or people have had the opportunity to make a written submission for the court to consider.
If you are unsure about a demand for payment, the court advises to call them at (330) 451-7931 or stop by the courthouse at 101 Tuscarawas Street W in Canton.
