Eyewitness accounts and even some fan-captured footage reveal the actors in eye-catching, matching blue suits, adorned with true Texas symbols like the Lone Star, bluebonnets, and a puzzling snake wearing a football helmet wrapped around a tree.
The reason for the downtown disruption? State Representative Eddie Morales Jr. told the San Antonio Express News he encountered the stars outside Kruger’s Diamond Jewelers. He said they were filming for their new Apple TV+ comedy series “Brothers.”
The show’s premise centers on the bond between McConaughey and Harrelson as they navigate life on McConaughey’s Texas ranch.
Want to get in on the action? Legacy Casting is seeking extras for the production. A recent call specifically said the company is looking for individuals aged 18-25 to portray high school students in a dance scene. If you’re available in early June, you might just have the chance to experience the McConaughey and Harrelson magic firsthand and be part of their upcoming show. A poster circulating on social media instructed interested people to email extras@legacycasting.com with a recent picture, wardrobe sizes and contact info.
From “True Detective” to Texas filming, Capitol action
For those who remember the duo’s captivating on-screen chemistry, this reunion follows their critically acclaimed pairing in the first season of HBO’s crime drama, “True Detective.” This new project promises a much lighter tone, showcasing a different side of the pair’s dynamic.
Their recent appearance in the Capital CIity is not just about the upcoming series. The two have also been actively involved in supporting the Texas film industry, even visiting the Texas Capitol to advocate for film incentive bills aimed at making the Lone Star State a prime destination for producers.
Keep your eyes peeled, Austin. You never know when you might catch another glimpse of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as they bring their Texas charm and Hollywood hustle to our city. This time, it looks like the intensity of “True Detective” is trading places with what’s sure to be a hilariously Texan adventure.
