Zayn cancels U.S. tour, including planned first concert in Milwaukee

Milwaukee will have to keep waiting for Zayn’s first concert in the city.

The former One Direction member, who released a new album, “Konnakol,” last month, announced a U.S. tour in February that was slated to include Fiserv Forum July 23.

But on May 1, Zayn posted on Instagram that he was no longer planning to tour the United States, the show cancellations following his hospitalization last month for an undisclosed illness.

In the Instagram Story message, Zayn wrote: “To my fans: Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers, and well wishes for my health. I’ve felt it, and it’s meant the world. I’ve been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before. I’ve had to take another look at my schedule for the months ahead and have to reduce the number of shows on the KONNAKOL Tour. I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as I possibly can. I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you, and I hope to see the rest of you around the world very soon. Big Love, Z.”

Variety also reported that following Zayn’s Las Vegas residency earlier this year, “tickets for the U.S. tour were soft, judging by seating maps on Ticketmaster.”

All first-hand tickets purchased for the tour will be refunded through the point of purchase.

Zayn was no longer in One Direction by the time the massive boy band – featuring Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – performed at the Miller Park (now American Family Field) in 2015.

But One Direction fans in Milwaukee at least have something to look forward to this summer: Tomlinson will be headlining the BMO Pavilion during Summerfest June 26.
