Yahoo Travel calls Milwaukee one of the best affordable cities for a weekend trip

So what is someone to do when they only have a few days off? Travel to Milwaukee. Yahoo Travel ranked the top affordable cities to visit on a long weekend, and Milwaukee was one of the best in the country, according to the website.

“A visit to many of America’s most popular cities — New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami — comes at a cost, with high hotel rates, restaurant tabs and attraction fees that can overwhelm the average traveler’s budget,” the website said.

Why did Yahoo Travel like Milwaukee?

Yahoo loved that downtown that sits right on Lake Michigan and the city’s history of German immigration that shaped the breweries Brew City is famous for.

“Much of that heritage remains visible today, from restored brewery complexes to neighborhood beer gardens,” the website said.

Yahoo Travel also recommended the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Lakefront Trail, beaches, the Third Ward, the Milwaukee Public Market, the Pabst Brewery tour and Mader’s German restaurant. Or check out our guide to the top 25 things to do in Milwaukee.
