FOX CROSSING – A woman has died after jumping from an overpass onto Interstate 41.
Fox Crossing Police Department said in a news release an officer responded at around 11:20 a.m. Nov. 18 to the report of a woman who was standing by her vehicle on U.S. 10 and possibly needing assistance.
When the officer arrived, the news release said he saw her jump from the U.S. 10 overpass onto one of the northbound lanes of Interstate 41.
A motorist immediately stopped to provide aid and remove the woman from the lane of traffic. Emergency personnel also arrived within minutes.
On-ramp access to Interstate 41 was closed to help minimize traffic flow, the news release said.
The woman was transported from the scene by ambulance but was later pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries.
Fox Crossing Police Department said the incident remains under investigation and no further information would be immediately released.
Agencies assisting in responding to the incident included the Neenah Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Fox Crossing Fire Department.
