Wisconsin secures important visit from four-star Florida State commit

Even though Mekhi Williams has committed to Florida State, Wisconsin continues to pursue the four-star defensive back.

Williams, who’s listed at 6-foot-2.5, was named the No. 1 safety in Florida by On3.

His upcoming May 29 visit won’t be the first time in Madison. He announced his commitment to the Seminoles on March 26, but still made a trip to Wisconsin on April 25.

Just over one month later, he’s set to return as the Badgers hold a key advantage in these post-spring practice visits. Williams revealed he has four visits planned, but Wisconsin is first on that list.

The Ruskin, FL, native said he “cannot wait to be back” in Madison. On May 29, he’ll do just that. Should Williams flip from FSU, he wouldn’t only be Wisconsin’s highest class of 2027 defensive recruit, but he’d also be among their top four commitments in a class that currently has 12 players.

As always, though, Wisconsin must be on high alert. Williams has a trio of visits in June that includes FSU on June 5, Nebraska on the 12th, and LSU on the 19th.
