The reigning Ken Dryden Goaltender of the Year has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Mike Hastings struck gold with the addition of Penn State’s J.J. Wiebusch, and now they’ve also added Cornell goaltender Alexis Cournoyer.
Brad Elliott Schlossman broke the news on April 17 that the Montreal Canadians’ 2025 fifth-round pick (No. 145 overall) would be heading to Madison for the 2026-27 season.
Cournoyer won’t turn 21 years old until December, so he’s yet another player coming to Wisconsin with a ton of eligibility remaining.
After adding Cournoyer, Wisconsin now has four goaltenders. It’s all but certain one of their three will be on the move, with most assuming that would be Anton Castro.
Freshman Daniel Hauser just led the Badgers to a National Championship, so the last thing they want to do is push him out. This now gives Wisconsin one of the best goalie combinations in the league, should Hauser decide to stick around for his second season.
Cournoyer sported an 18-10 record in 2025-26 with a 2.05 goals allowed average. He finished his freshman season with 1636:17 on-ice minutes and a save percentage of .915%.
