Wisconsin Rapids Walmart reopens store after June 23 power outage

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Walmart at 4331 Eighth St. S. has regained power and reopened its doors to customers.

The store had been closed for several hours Monday, June 23 after a line of storms moved through the city and knocked out power to the area. The store posted on its Facebook page shortly after 5 p.m. that it had regained power and was reopening its doors.

Walmart had been unable to serve customers both in the store and for curbside pickup earlier in the afternoon.

At about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Wisconsin Rapids Water Works & Lighting Commission posted on its Facebook page announcing a power outage south of Airport Avenue and east of Eighth Street South, along with a few other small areas in the city. The announcement said the commission did not have an estimated timeframe when power would be restored, but crews are working as quickly and safely as possible.
