Who made the 2026 Heartland Select girls track and field team, won MVP?

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Assumption senior and 2026 Heartland’s Select Most Valuable Player Bella Thomas picked up where she left off last season and just kept collecting medals all season long.

In 2024, Thomas, as a sophomore, posted a 25.28 time in the 200-meter dash at the WIAA D3 sectional at Bangor, breaking Assumption’s school record.

A year later at the D3 St. Mary’s Catholic regional, Thomas won both the 100-meter (12.19) and 200-meter (24.91) races while shattering school records in both, resetting her own record in the 200 from the previous season.

At the 2026 WIAA state track and field championships, Thomas continued that excellence as a senior, qualifying and notching podium finishes in three state events.

As a freshman at Assumption, Thomas triple-qualified at the 2023 WIAA state track and field championships, and continued that tradition of excellence into her senior season.

There Thomas further etched her name into Wisconsin track history, taking home a gold medal in the 400-meter race, a silver medal in the girls 100-meter race and a fourth place finish in the 200-meter dash.

She will continue to compete at the next level, earning a Division 1 scholarship to run for Montana State University.
