When do clocks fall back in Wisconsin? Here's what to know about daylight saving time in 2025

The sun is already setting earlier in Wisconsin, but there are still about three months to go until daylight saving time ends.

The nation’s attitude toward daylight saving time has become complicated, to say the least. Not every state observes it, and some have considered abolishing it, while others want to make it permanent. Florida became the first state to enact legislation to permanently observe it in 2018, though the measure has yet to receive Congressional approval.

Regardless, daylight saving time will end in a few months. So, when exactly will clocks “fall back” in 2025?

Here’s what to know:

What is daylight saving time?

Daylight saving time is the period between March and November when Americans set their clocks ahead by one hour.

We gain an hour in November for more daylight during winter mornings, but lose an hour in March when clocks “spring forward” for more daylight during summer evenings, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

When does daylight saving time end in 2025?

Daylight saving time will end on Nov. 2 between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

When does daylight saving time begin?

Daylight saving time will begin on March 8, 2026, between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Will Wisconsin make daylight saving time permanent?

No, or at least not yet. There are not currently any measures underway to make daylight saving time permanent in Wisconsin. Eighteen states observe daylight saving time year-round, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
