OSHKOSH – A State of Emergency is being declared as the city is advising residents to prepare for possible flooding from the Fox River and Lake Winnebago.
According to a news release, portions of Sawyer Street and areas along Witzel Avenue could be affected as the Fox River is expected to rise and crest around 4 feet by April 27.
Where can people get free sandbags?
Residents can pick up free sandbags at the Seniors Center North Building parking lot at 234 N. Campbell Road and the former Army National Guard Armory, 221 N. Sawyer St.
Those unable to pick up sandbags can request delivery by calling the Oshkosh Police Department non-emergency line at 920-236-5700.
What other precautions can people take?
Residents are also advised to take precautions by turning off power and moving batteries, electrical devices and other hazardous materials from areas that could possibly flood.
