HKM Architects + Planners has designed upscale apartments proposed for 5 acres of vacant land owned by Christian Faith Fellowship Church on Milwaukee’s far northwest side.
Fellowship Village, near West Good Hope Road and North 86th Street, would be a 197-unit development featuring one- to three-bedroom units, with surface and underground parking. Other amenities include in-unit washer/dryers, pool, play area, gardens, and a communal area.
But the estimated $50 million project needs zoning approval – and nearby residents are opposing the plans.

HKM is a full-service architecture firm for both new construction and renovation projects. It operates offices in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Greer, South Carolina.
The firm’s principals are Mark Kurensky, Eden Richards and Adam Thoma.

HKM serves all phases of the design process, including initial concept, project viability, permitting, and construction administration.
The group also does landscape architecture and interior design, and assists with legal approvals needed for property development.
HKM has done other Milwaukee projects
The firm has been involved with several Milwaukee projects, including the 243-unit River House apartment complex, at 1785 N. Water St. That’s on the former Gallun Tannery site overlooking the Milwaukee River.
In 2025, HKM helped expand the development’s footprint with 205 new apartments across two buildings, known as Rowe MKE, 1845 N. Water St. The project includes a 500-foot extension of the public RiverWalk.
In 2019, the firm worked on the renovation of the south tower at Yankee Hill Apartments,626 E. Kilbourn Ave. That project converted an outdated indoor pool area into a fitness center, lounge area with fireplace, and other amenities, according to HKM’s website.

The upscale Brookfield Reserve, in Brookfield, featuring 194 units, a pool, fountain, cabana, grilling tables and lounge areas; Reserve at Highpoint, a 156-unit apartment community featuring a resident lounge/community room, fitness center, and other amenities in Madison, and The Encore, an 81-unit apartment community in Sheboygan that includes 4,000 square feet of retail space.
Under construction is the Legacy at Bristol, in Bristol. The 256-unit apartment complex spans seven buildings on 25 acres and includes a 3,500-square-foot clubhouse.
