Former Michigan head coach Dusty May is heading to the NBA, and that could have major implications on the Wisconsin Badgers.
Longtime Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard isn’t necessarily a frontrunner to join the Wolverines, but Michigan knows there could at least be a conversation between both sides in the near future.
Currently, Michigan announced assistant coach Mike Boynton Jr. would be taking over as the interim head coach. Obviously, that’s not a move anyone expects to last for long.
Remember, Michigan was in the mix for Badgers star John Blackwell. Not only did Blackwell consider making a move to a larger Big Ten program, but it’s one Gard has quite the resume against.
At the very least, Michigan respects Gard and what he’s done. No one expects Gard to leave Wisconsin for Michigan, and in all honesty, that’d be worse than Craig Counsell leaving the Brewers for the Cubs.
That said, Michigan now has to try and find a suitable replacement and that’s going to be far easier said than done. Will the Wolverines ever be the same? Only time will tell.
