Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Brenda Cassellius is to be commended for her plan to reduce the central office academic staff, with the intention of increasing academic staff at individual schools.

It is a creative way to address the current shortage of certified teachers at MPS schools. What’s distressing is the predictable “staunch opposition” of Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association.
