Wisconsin football returns to the Camp Randall field on Saturday afternoon for a Week 2 matchup against Middle Tennessee State.
The Badgers opened their 2025 campaign last Thursday with a 17-0 win over Miami (Ohio). Luke Fickell’s defense led the effort, holding the RedHawks to 117 total yards, 1.5 yards per carry average and zero third-down conversions. Senior safety Preston Zachman’s two fourth-quarter interceptions put an exclamation point on that impressive defensive performance.
One major storyline exiting the contest is the health of Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. The Maryland transfer left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury. While his injury is not believed to be season-ending, early week reports indicated backup Danny O’Neil would be the team’s likely starter in Week 2. In that case, Edwards would hope to be back for the Badgers’ Week 3 trip to Alabama.
Wisconsin’s Week 2 opponent, Middle Tennessee, is 0-1 after a 20-point loss to Football Championship Division foe Austin Peay. The Badgers will be expected to win handily, regardless of who suits up under center.
