MANITOWOC – With the end of August fast approaching, the best summer weather may already be behind us.
But fall brings its own appeal, with milder temperatures, fewer bugs (hopefully!) and some colorful trees. And area residents don’t have to give up outdoor summer dining options like patios just yet.
Manitowoc-area restaurants provide plenty of options for patio dining. Here are a few popular places.
The Wharf Manitowoc, 606 Quay St.
There’s no better spot to enjoy views of the Manitowoc River meeting Lake Michigan, not to mention the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and USS Cobia across the way. Live music, adult beverages and menu items that include cheese curds and shrimp or salmon tacos make it a great place to enjoy a nice day or evening.
Courthouse Pub, 1001 S. Eighth St.
The ambiance of the newly renovated downtown staple is great, but sometimes you want to sit outside and watch the bustling city in action. The menu items include a yummy cranberry apple burger, but you can go with anything from a salad to a steak.
Pizza Garden, 301 N. Eighth St.
This hot spot is walkable from the Manitowoc Marina and other places downtown. You can sit outside and enjoy a delicious old-style pizza. This place has been around (in several locations) since 1957, so they’re likely doing something right.
Whisky D’s, 1215 26th St., Two Rivers
This easy-going bar and grill has a large patio area filled with umbrella-topped tables, as well as a set of picnic tables right on the East Twin River’s edge adjacent to a cornhole area. Great burgers and such, but we recommend stopping by for the Friday fish fry.
Cool City Brewing, 1718 W. Park St., Two Rivers
The indoor décor of Cool City, which is a former bank, is pretty cool, to be honest. But this popular place has a good-sized outdoor dining space to take in those rays or the setting sun. You really can’t go wrong no matter what you order here.
Cool City offers a variety of food and beverage flights — with everything from slider flights to Wisconsin cheese curd flights, as well as beer flights and whisky or brandy old-fashioned flights. You might want to bring a few friends and wear your loose pants for this dining experience!
